Diversity-Training Firms Applaud Blocking of Florida’s ‘Stop Woke Act’

Census data shows linguistic diversity on the rise in Canada

Is your country more diverse than you think? English and French are the most commonly spoken languages in Canada. Canada is the eighth largest immigrant population in the world. Immigrants support Canada’s aging population, meet labour market needs, fill temporary labour needs, boost trade, and sustain Canada’s education system through international students. Immigrants contribute significantly to the Canadian economy and at the same time create jobs for Canadians. New Canadians are bringing with them an increasing number of diverse languages, setting a record for the number of Canadians whose mother tongue is neither English nor French. The latest 2021 census report reveals this record. Toronto Star has the story.

Diversity-Training Firms Applaud Blocking of Florida’s ‘Stop Woke Act’

Organizations offering diversity training reacted to a Florida court’s decision with cheers, as the ruling effectively blocked provisions that restricted how race is discussed in the workplace. Businesses also have designed diversity training programs alongside initiatives to add a previously under-served demographic to their boards. The S&P 500 companies had more than twice as many directors added to their boards in 2021 than in any year since 2004, and women or members of racial or ethnic minorities could now chair nearly three-quarters of these new independent boards. The Wall Street Journal has the story.
