Over the last 60 years of replaying King’s most famous speech “I Have a Dream”, the concept of racial integration still terrifies many. What is integration? “Integration is not just hanging out (together). It’s having access to credit, it’s seeing the value of your home increase, it’s accumulating wealth,” says Leonard Steinhorn. “It involves employment, quality education and all of those things together…many White Americans prefer something called virtual integration where their primary exposure to Black people comes through TV series, movies and ads. The Order of Canada is how Canada honours people who make extraordinary contributions to the nation. A new analysis shows that women and individuals from racially marginalized groups are still underrepresented at Order of Canada appointments. In 2022, the list of appointees was far less diverse than the Canadian population. Rideau Hall made a statement that it’s working to make Order of Canada appointments more diverse. CBC has the story.

The Brecon Beacons are a mountain range, home to some of the most beautiful scenery in South Wales. It is the world’s 5th International Dark Sky Reserve, offering an exceptional quality of starry nights and an environment protected for scientific, natural, educational, cultural, heritage or public enjoyment. Over 4 million people visit the national park every year. New park authority members think the Brecon Beacons need to be more accessible to disabled, disadvantaged and ethnically diverse people. Currently, there are miles without stiles, creating paths for people who are using mobility wheels but more can be done. BBC explains more.
