Toronto city council in Canada is getting more diverse than ever. Many new councillors are from Black or other minority communities, including the first hijab-wearing Muslim woman, a gay Black man, and a Chinese-Canadian whose family immigrated to Canada from Chile. Diversity in government representation is essential because the population is becoming more diverse.
