Ten Tokyo 2020 Olympics designs that help the games move “towards zero carbon”
Tokyo 2020 Olympics has finally started. If the 5 new sports (baseball/softball, karate, skateboard, sports climbing and surfing) have not yet caught your attention this year, how about the sustainability and environmental consideration and innovation embedded in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics designs? You’ll see beds made out of recycled cardboard, podiums made of donated plastic, torchbearers’ uniforms made from recycled bottles, Olympic torches made from recycled construction waste from the temporary housing from the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami, zero-emission autonomous and electric e-Palette vehicles that transport athletes around the Village, and medals made from old mobile phones and other e-waste, etc.

From “white trash kid” to world record power lifter, Matt Kroczaleski faces the most challenging feat of strength yet: becoming a woman.
Janae Marie “Kroc” Kroczaleski is a transgender woman who also identifies as gender fluid and non-binary. Janae was a former US Marine and world record weightlifter. When she came out as being a transgender, her sponsors abandoned her, she was disowned by her parents, and banned from competing.

CNN Business reports: California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed a civil lawsuit Tuesday against one of America’s largest video game developers Activision Blizzard, alleging multiple female employees were subjected to gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and unequal pay.

Inuk leader Mary Simon named Canada’s 1st Indigenous governor general
Inuk leader and former ambassador Mary Simon has been appointed as Canada’s 30th governor general. She is Canada’s first Indigenous governor general. She is bilingual in English and Inuktitut but never had the opportunity to learn Canada’s other official language – French while she studied in the school that has been the subject of lawsuits over the mistreatment of students by administrators. ‘Racism, sexism, tokenism’: The reality for women of colour in Australia’s workplaces
Human Resources Director reports: The research, carried out by Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) in partnership with Murdoch University, highlights the disparity between the aims of D&I policies and the lived experience of those in the workplace. The inaugural Women of Colour in the Australian Workforce survey indicated that more than half of workers have been discriminated against, despite almost the same amount (59%) reporting that their workplace has a diversity and inclusion policy in place.
